Winners ORTEC Excellence in Advanced Planning Award 2010

In order to encourage successful and practical Operations Research by PhD students at universities, ORTEC and the Nederlands Genootschap Besliskunde (NGB) have set up the ORTEC Excellence in Advanced Planning Award 2010.

PhD Students from different universities in the Netherlands sent in their research and at the annually LNMB-NGB conference in Lunteren the winner of the ORTEC Award was selected by the committee; Nikki Kortbeek and Rene Haijema were rewarded for their research on inventory management for blood platelets. The jury was impressed with the practical relevance of the research and the positive way it promotes OR in the medical world. Nikki and Rene won € 1.000 and an article of their research in the OR-magazine StatOR. We would like to congratulate the winners and thank all participants for their efforts in bringing OR in practice.
